How Do Manufacturers Comply with the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)?
The EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) introduces mandatory cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements sold on the European market. Manufacturers must demonstrate compliance through documented cybersecurity processes, risk assessments, technical documentation, and conformity assessments before products can be legally marketed in Europe.
PPWR Requirements from 12 August 2026: Packaging Compliance Guide for EU Market Access
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) becomes generally applicable from 12 August 2026. From this date, manufacturers and importers can only place PPWR compliant packaging on the EU market.

What is the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)?
CBAM is an EU mechanism that has been fully in force since January 2026. Importers of certain goods – including steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers and hydrogen – must purchase EU certificates that reflect the carbon price in the EU Emissions Trading System. The aim is to create a level playing field between EU producers and importers.
Which companies need an EU Representative?
Companies without their own EU establishment that place products on the EU market need an EU Representative for many product categories. This applies in particular to products subject to CE marking such as machinery, toys, medical devices and electronic equipment, as well as to batteries and CRA-regulated digital products.
What does the EU Packaging Regulation PPWR govern?
The PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) sets binding requirements for recyclability, minimum recycled content and packaging labelling. From 2030, all packaging must be recyclable. Companies that sell packaged products in the EU must adapt and document their packaging accordingly.
What is the digital EU Battery Passport?
The EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542) requires a digital Battery Passport for industrial, vehicle and e-mobility batteries from 2027. It contains information on origin, composition, carbon footprint and recyclability. Manufacturers and importers must capture this data in a structured way and make it accessible via a QR-code-based system.
What does CE marking mean and who needs it?
CE marking confirms that a product meets EU safety and conformity requirements. It is mandatory for numerous product categories – including machinery, electrical equipment, toys, medical devices and construction products – before they may be sold on the EU market. The marking requires a conformity assessment and technical documentation.
